Last year Giulia Gaudenzi and Iskra Pollak Dorocic from Karolinka Institute in Sweden joined Unistem Day in Milan on behalf of their institution (here you can read the report of their participation): « We could not help but think how we would have enjoyed the opportunity of learning about cutting-edge research and meet working scientists when we were high school students ourselves» they said, hoping that Sweden would participate in 2014. And so it is.
This year, after confirmation of the six Spain Universities (Universitat de Barcelona, Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, Universidad de Murcia, Universidad de Valladolid) and the Scottish one ((The University of Edinburgh), for the first time also an Ireland Istitution ( National University Of Ireland, Galway) and Karolinska Institutet are taking part in the event.
The Unistem Day is spreading out very fast and we hope it will go on.
As in Italian as in European colleges, scientists talks and short films and much more are going to be on stage as well as the the videoconference among all participating universities, which – as just in past years – is going to be fun. To know more about what is going on in Europe do not forget to follow us on Twitter @unistem2014 (#unistem2014); @euro_dayinsci, where some students of the Edinburg University will tweet live about Unistem Day; and @eurostemcell, the twitter page of the European portal EuroStemCell, that gathers more than 90 centers for the research on stem cells and regenerative medicine.
