UniStem Day is almost at the doors. There is great excitement around the preparation of the biggest event in Europe on stem cells that is aimed at high school students.
For its eighth edition, which will be held on March 11, UniStem Day will count on the participation of 37 Italian universities and research centres and more than 35 leading universities and research centres throughout Europe. There are great expectations for the participation of the Universities from Denmark, Germany, Poland and Serbia, which will join for the first time colleagues from the UK, Spain and Sweden, that have been protagonists of the initiative for various years.
Over 400 people, including researchers, managers, communicators, clinicians will be involved in the organization of the day, which this year will reach the record number of 27,000 students, that will be united virtually at moments of audio/video connections between the various international universities since the beginning of the day.
An initiative dedicated to high school students, that includes activities that aim to introduce young people to science and make them understand the value of research and scientific knowledge, with all its social and cultural implications.
Seminars, debates, recreational events and laboratory visits allow students to “touch with hand” the fascinating world of stem cell research and have a glimpse, at least for a day, of the life of a researcher.
The line of conduct this year for the day will be the theme of freedom and make students comprehend the importance and the value of the freedom to study, to know and to be able to rely on concrete and real facts to base their future opinions on. A possibility that even today, unfortunately, is impermeable to many young people in the world.
The appointment is Friday, March 11, 2016, in more than 60 cities around the continent and on our websites and social networks Facebook and Twitter. Today more than ever Europe is united for Science
