“Personally, after four years as coordinator of Unistem Day, I feel more useful when I talk to students, trying to answer their questions, rather than doing my job as a professor and researcher. In recent years I can see a “thirst” for knowledge and accurate information in young people that is not reflected in much of the communication media, often misleading for several reasons.
My experience “outside of the laboratory” convinces me that direct contact with the researchers can still make people dream and not only high school students. Something similar to live music, which can involve even if not perfect as in the studio, due to direct contact.
The most difficult part is going further the scientific results and trying to explain how science proceeds, defending the authority of basic research and its essential role in building the future. ”
